Medication Assistance

Medication support is one of the most important ways we help ensure the ongoing health and safety of our participants. At Empowering Connection, we offer professional, respectful, and skilled medication administration services delivered by trained and competent staff. Our team is experienced in providing a variety of medication supports — from basic prompting through to administration by registered nurses when required.

Our team follows strict medication management procedures, including the use of Medication Charts, clear documentation practices, and medication incident protocols to ensure compliance and participant safety. We work closely with families, GPs, pharmacies, and allied health providers to ensure up-to-date medication information, appropriate administration times, and storage. We tailor our approach based on each participant’s level of independence, preferences, and support plan requirements.

Medication Administration can be used for:

  • Administering oral medications and topical treatments

  • Providing medication prompting and reminders

  • Supporting use of Webster packs and blister packaging

  • Coordinating medication changes with GPs and pharmacists

  • Administering PRN medications under direction

  • Training staff in safe medication practices

This service is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life or High Intensity Daily Personal Activities, depending on complexity. For participants with complex health needs, we can also involve clinical nurses as part of your multidisciplinary team.

How this links to the Connect + Thrive Framework: Medication support provides peace of mind and physical stability, allowing participants to focus on the areas of life that bring them joy and purpose. With consistent and safe medication routines in place, individuals can connect more confidently with others, pursue their interests, and thrive knowing their health is supported.
