Supported Independent Living

a home that's yours

Day-to-day help in your home so you can live the way you want, from a few hours a day up to 24/7, in your own home, a shared home or Specialist Disability Accommodation.

What is it?

What is SIL?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the day-to-day help you receive inside your home. That might be personal care, cooking, keeping the house in order, or learning to do more of these things yourself. SIL is funded through your NDIS plan and covers your support, not the house itself.

You can receive SIL in your own home, a shared home with housemates, or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). We match households carefully and keep support teams consistent, with a local team across the Fleurieu.

This may suit you if you:

✓  Need daily support with personal care or routines

✓  Want to live more independently

✓  Are looking for a shared or supported living environment

✓  Have complex or high support needs

✓  Are moving from home, hospital or another provider

What we do

How we support you

SIL looks different for everyone. Your support is built around your home, your routine and your goals.

Daily living assistance

Support with showering, grooming, dressing, meals and personal care, maintaining dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Community engagement

Support to take part in social, recreational and work-related activities, building connections and confidence.

Household management

Practical help with cleaning, cooking, laundry and organising your home, so it's safe and comfortable.

Rosters and routines

Clear schedules and routines for consistency and stability, so you know what to expect each day.

Skill-building and independence

Help to develop life skills like budgeting, cooking, self-management and decision-making.

High intensity and crisis support

Support during high intensity or emergency situations, keeping you safe with continuity of care at all times.

Who will support you?

You'll have a consistent support team who know you, your routines and what matters to you. We carefully match households, so you live with people you're likely to get on with.

We're experienced with complex and high-risk supports, and offer flexible support models, not one-size-fits-all.

FAQs

Common questions

What is SIL under the NDIS?

SIL is NDIS funding for help with daily tasks in your home, like personal care, meals and cleaning, to help you live as independently as possible. It pays for support, not rent or the house.

Do I have to live with other people?

No. Some people share support with housemates, and some have support just for themselves. It depends on your needs, your preferences and your funding.

What is the difference between SIL and SDA?

SIL is the support you receive. Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is the housing itself, built for people with very high support needs. You can receive SIL in SDA or in other types of housing.

Do you have vacancies?

Vacancies change often. Get in touch and we'll let you know what's available and help you find the right fit.

Ready to talk about your support?

Tell us about your goals and the support you’re looking for. Our local team will help you explore the next step, with no cost or obligation to have a chat.
