Everyday Life Skills

learn at your own pace

Practical support to learn the skills you want, like cooking, budgeting, catching the bus or speaking up for yourself, so you can do more on your own.

What is it?

What is

life skills support?

Life skills support helps you learn and practise the everyday skills that make you more independent, like cooking a meal, managing money, getting around or looking after your home. It's usually funded through the Capacity Building Supports in your NDIS plan.

We set goals with you, practise in real life and celebrate your progress. Support can be one-to-one or in a group, at home or out in the community, and always at your pace.

This may suit you if you:

โœ“  Want to do more things for yourself

โœ“  Are getting ready to move out of home

โœ“  Want more confidence with money, travel or cooking

โœ“  Are a school leaver or young adult planning what's next

What we do

How we

support you

We'll focus on the skills that matter most to you, and practise them in real situations.

Cooking and nutrition

Learn to plan, shop for and cook healthy meals you enjoy.

Money and budgeting

Build confidence with budgeting, paying bills and managing your money.

Travel and getting around

Practise using public transport and getting to places safely and independently.

Home and self-care

Build routines for cleaning, laundry and looking after yourself.

Communication and confidence

Develop social skills, problem-solving and speaking up for yourself.

Goals and planning

Set goals, make a plan and track your progress with regular check-ins.

Who will

support you?

You'll be matched with trained support workers whose experience fits your needs, goals and interests. We focus on consistency, so you see familiar faces you know and trust, and you always have a say in who supports you.

We focus on teaching, not just doing, so you build skills that last.

The EC Way

How we do it:

the EC Way

The EC Way is how we show up, every day. Small actions, every interaction. Here's what it looks like in everyday life skills.

Choice and Control

People lead their own lives.

You choose which skills to work on and set your own goals.

Kindness

Care should feel human.

We're patient and encouraging. Mistakes are part of learning.

Inclusion

Everyone belongs.

We adapt how we teach, so it works for the way you learn.

Respect

Dignity is never optional.

We treat you as the expert in your own life.

Excellence

Good enough isn't the EC Way.

We track your progress and keep raising the bar with you.

FAQs

Common

questions

What skills can I work on?

Anything that helps you live the way you want. Cooking, shopping, budgeting, using public transport, keeping your home tidy, communication and confidence are all common goals.

Is this different from a support worker doing things for me?

Yes. The focus is on teaching and practising, so over time you can do more yourself.

How is it funded?

Usually through Capacity Building Supports, such as Increased Social and Community Participation or Improved Daily Living. We'll check your plan with you.
