โ—  NDIS ยท Short Term Accommodation and respite

Respite

a break that does everyone good

A safe, supported break away from home, or extra support at home, so you and your carers can recharge. A few hours, overnight, a few days or a few weeks.

What is it?

What is

respite?

Respite is a short break with extra support. It gives your family or carers a rest, and gives you a change of scene and the chance to try new things. Overnight and short stays are usually funded through Short Term Accommodation (STA) in the Core Supports of your NDIS plan.

Respite can happen in your own home, out in the community, or as a short stay with us. We also offer Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) if you need somewhere to live for a while, for example while you wait for a long-term home.

This may suit you if you:

โœ“  Live with family or a carer who could use a break

โœ“  Would like a change of scenery or time to try new things

โœ“  Need extra support for a short time, like after a hospital stay

โœ“  Want overnight or short-stay support that feels like home

What we do

How we

support you

Respite looks different for everyone. Here are some of the ways we can support you and your family.

In-home respite

Our team comes to you, providing care in the comfort of your own home for a few hours, overnight or longer.

Community-based respite

Enjoy a change of scenery with outings, activities or day trips, with our team supporting you along the way.

Overnight and short stays

Stay in a safe, welcoming place designed to feel like home, with support to rest and recharge.

Medium Term Accommodation

Somewhere safe to live for a while, with support, while you wait for your long-term home.

Matched support workers

We carefully match you with support workers who suit your needs, interests and personality.

Flexible scheduling

Respite planned around your family's needs, from regular breaks to one-off stays.

Who will

support you?

You'll be matched with trained support workers whose experience fits your needs, goals and interests. We focus on consistency, so you see familiar faces you know and trust, and you always have a say in who supports you.

We focus on relationships, safety and wellbeing, so respite feels like a positive experience, not just time away.

The EC Way

How we do it:

the EC Way

The EC Way is how we show up, every day. Small actions, every interaction. Here's what it looks like in respite.

Choice and Control

People lead their own lives.

You choose what your respite looks like, from activities to bedtime routines.

Kindness

Care should feel human.

We help you feel at home, with familiar routines and a warm welcome.

Inclusion

Everyone belongs.

We plan activities everyone can join in and enjoy.

Respect

Dignity is never optional.

We follow your routines and preferences, and treat your space with care.

Excellence

Good enough isn't the EC Way.

We keep your family informed and follow your support plan every stay.
