Andrew's Backyard Project

We are incredibly proud to share Andrew's recent achievement, a project that beautifully reflects his commitment, creativity, and growing independence.

With the support of his support worker Michael, Andrew set out to create a dedicated calming space at his home. His goal was simple but meaningful: a place where he could unwind, enjoy a coffee, and spend time outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine.

From the very beginning, this was Andrew's vision, and he was involved every step of the way.

Andrew took a hands-on role in bringing the space to life. He began by carefully staining the bench, taking pride in the detail and finish. From there, he worked on preparing the surrounding area, laying grass and completing brickwork to shape the space exactly how he wanted it. Each stage of the project was an opportunity to build skills, confidence, and a strong sense of ownership.

The end result is a beautiful, peaceful outdoor area that is not only practical, but deeply personal to Andrew. It's a space designed by him, built with his own effort, and now enjoyed as part of his everyday routine.

More than just a backyard project, this is a powerful example of what can be achieved when the right support is in place. Andrew has worked towards his goals, strengthened his independence, and created an environment that actively supports his wellbeing.
